Introduction
CVD industrial synthetic diamond compact is a substrate-free, thick diamond film with a thickness of over 1.0 mm. These diamond layers are cut into specific shapes and welded onto cemented carbide to form composite cutting inserts. With no metal binder, CVD diamond offers extremely low impurity levels and a purity close to 100%. It also delivers superior hardness, thermal conductivity, and chemical stability compared to PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond), along with a lower friction coefficient. These properties make CVD tools ideal for high-speed machining of non-ferrous materials.
Features of CVD Diamond Cutting Tools
- Exceptional Durability
CVD diamond compact tools provide stable hardness and high wear resistance, offering a service life 2 to 10 times longer than PCD tools (refer to the attached table for details).
- Customizable Thickness
CVD diamond films are available in thicknesses ranging from **0.4 mm to 2.0 mm**, making them suitable for a wide variety of milling tools.
- Pure Polycrystalline Structure
As a binder-free, pure polycrystalline diamond material, CVD diamond remains chemically inert in air at temperatures **up to 800°C**. Tools made from CVD diamond feature sharp edges, high wear resistance, minimal cutting force, and excellent machining precision.
- Superior Heat Dissipation
The extremely high thermal conductivity of CVD diamond film ensures efficient heat dissipation between the tool and workpiece during machining, significantly reducing cutting temperatures.
CVD diamond tools are highly recommended for machining non-ferrous materials, including:
- Aluminum and aluminum-silicon alloys
- Copper and copper alloys
- Graphite
- Reinforced glass fiber and carbon fiber composites
